A new focus on EU emissions trading

January 2024 — Luxembourg

At the beginning of 2024 we started a dedicated review of emissions trading systems, EU carbon prices and the practical impact of carbon costs on European business. This was the point at which EU emissions trading moved from being one of several regulatory topics we followed to a distinct area of work for VieKey Consulting.

The subject quickly became more practical with the development of the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism. We began examining what companies would need to collect from suppliers and trading partners, how emissions data could be organised, and how carbon-related reporting could fit into existing compliance processes.

We are publishing this milestone because it marked the beginning of a specialisation that has since developed into practical CBAM and EU ETS support for companies involved in international trade and cross-border energy transactions.
